2G Engineering is seeking a motivated, talented Mechanical Technician to work in our fast-paced, constantly-evolving team environment. If you are looking for an exciting position where you can inspect, assemble, and test high-tech actuators, this is the job for you.

This is a full-time position with benefits located at our Sun Prairie, WI office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect mechanical components with inspection equipment and precision measuring tools
  • Create inspection reports
  • Assemble actuators
  • Test actuators
  • Communicate with vendors as needed
  • Make suggestions and demonstrate initiative in executing directed tasks
  • Troubleshooting – Determining the causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
  • Systems Analysis – Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation
  • Installing and working on equipment/machines

Education Requirements

  • At least an Associate's Degree in a technical field such as Machine Tool, Auto tech, tool and die, industrial technology or a related engineering degree

Experience Requirements

  • Assembly with hand tool experience
  • Previous related work experience preferred, either in an internship or a full time position

Essential Skills

  • Read and understand engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and schedule work activities effectively
  • Complex problem solving - identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Make suggestions and demonstrate initiative in executing directed tasks
  • Knowledge of design techniques and tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models
  • Good mechanical skills and troubleshooting expertise
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently with little direction and ability to manage one's own time
  • Display professionalism and attention to detail
  • Work in a small, but fast-paced work environment
  • Quickly move from one task to another, wear and change "hats" as requested
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and be able to stand/move around for significant portions of the day
  • Drafting and CAD design experience a plus
