2G Engineering has been designing and building lithium-ion battery management systems for over 15 years. We work with customers to develop custom BMS solutions for subsea electric vehicle propulsion, data acquisition platforms, and other demanding underwater applications.
Every system is engineered to the customer’s specific requirements—cell count, voltage range, communication interfaces, power switching, and mechanical envelope. We can deliver complete battery modules, standalone management electronics, or custom firmware for integration into your own battery architecture.
Our systems are designed for pressure-balanced, oil-filled (PBOF) operation at depths exceeding 6,000 meters. From compact single-pack managers to modular architectures exceeding 100 kWh, we scale to fit the application.

Purpose-Built Subsea Electronics
Every board is custom-designed for its application. Below are examples of the types of BMS hardware we develop for our customers. We also design subsea power distribution electronics, including the iSSR (intelligent Solid State Relay) for high-reliability switching and load management.
Integrated Battery Management
For applications requiring a single-board solution, we design standalone BMS modules that combine cell monitoring, active balancing, solid-state power switching, and multiple communication interfaces on one board. These designs can support up to 24 series cells with disconnect switches rated up to 1200V and 60A, and include features like integrated pack heaters, hibernate modes with configurable wake-up, and pressure transducer inputs.
Compact Management & I/O Expansion
Smaller battery packs benefit from compact BMS designs that provide the same core protection and monitoring in a reduced footprint. When the application requires additional sensing or control—such as driving solenoid valves, reading analog sensors, or logging data to removable storage—optional expansion modules can be paired with the main BMS board.
Scalable Multi-Module Architecture
For large battery systems, we develop distributed architectures where a central controller manages multiple independent cell-monitoring modules. This approach scales from small packs to systems exceeding 100 kWh. Each monitoring module is individually protected and communicates over an isolated bus, enabling flexible pack configurations tailored to the customer’s mechanical and electrical requirements.

Every subsea battery application is different. Cell chemistry, pack voltage, mechanical envelope, communication requirements, and operational profile all drive the BMS design. 2G Engineering works directly with customers from the earliest stages of system design to deliver a management solution that fits.
We have delivered systems ranging from compact single-module packs to modular architectures exceeding 100 kWh. Series cell counts between 6 and 24 are common, but our platform supports up to 100 cells per management channel.
