2G Engineering has over a decade of experience designing and manufacturing custom subsea motor drives. Our drives range from 100W compact servo controllers to 73kW high-power units, all custom-designed in-house for specific customer applications.

Every drive features field-oriented control (FOC) with position, velocity, and torque PID loops, SiC MOSFET power stages for maximum efficiency, and integrated communications for seamless system integration. From single-axis actuator controllers to multi-phase propulsion drives, we scale to fit the application.

Our drives are designed for pressure-balanced, oil-filled (PBOF) operation at depths exceeding 6,000 meters, with compact circular form factors optimized for subsea pressure housings.

Field-Oriented Control

Sinusoidal FOC with regenerative braking capability. Cascaded position, velocity, and torque PID control loops with configurable gains. Supports BLDC and PMSM motors.

Wide Power Range

Drive systems from 100W compact servo controllers to 73kW high-power units. Bus voltages from 150V to 800V with current ratings matched to the application.

SiC MOSFET Technology

Silicon carbide power switching for maximum efficiency and thermal performance. Aluminum-core PCBs provide superior heat dissipation in oil-filled environments.

Integrated Soft Start & Protection

Built-in inrush current limiting, hotel power management, and comprehensive fault protection. Configurable overcurrent, overvoltage, and thermal shutdown thresholds.

Communications & I/O

Modbus RTU over RS-422 with optional RS-232. Analog and digital I/O for limit switches, strain gauges, and external sensors. Compatible with 2G JAMBUI host software.

Compact Circular Form Factors

Designs from 2.5″ to 4.6″ OD on circular PCBs optimized for standard subsea pressure housings. Stacking architectures for modular power scaling.

Compact Servo Drives

Small form factor FOC drives designed for subsea linear and rotary actuators. These compact controllers provide precise position and velocity control in a 2.5″ circular PCB format, integrating power stage, control logic, and communications on a single board. Ideal for remotely operated tooling, valve actuators, and manipulator joints.

Mid-Range Motor Drives

400V-class drives for higher power applications such as subsea pump motors, winch systems, and thruster drives. These designs feature SiC MOSFET power stages on aluminum-core PCBs for efficient thermal management, integrated soft start circuits for inrush protection, and full FOC with regenerative braking. Available in 3″ to 4″ OD circular formats.

High-Power Drive Systems

For demanding propulsion and heavy machinery applications, we design high-power drives operating at 400V–800V bus with output ratings up to 73kW. These systems use stacked power stage architectures with independent thermal management, and can include integrated hotel power supplies, soft start modules, and comprehensive system protection.
